99 Things You Wish You Knew Before Your Identity Was Stolen

99 Things You Wish You Knew Before Your Identity Was Stolen

On or about Sep 24, 2012, I received a letter in the mail from Brooklyn, NY. The New York City police department was seeking payment on a parking ticket issued against my license plate number on Sep 4, 2012. The plate number and make of vehicle was correct but the color of the vehicle and expiration date was incorrect. Since neither me nor my vehicle had ever been to NYC, I disputed the ticket however I was still judged guilty and additional charges were added. I do not know what to do.

I recommend that you contact the Identity Theft Resource Centre 0n 1(888)400-5530 for Toll-Free, No-Cost Victim Assistance. They have some excellent resources to assist victims and their website address is http://www.idtheftcenter.org/.

There is a book by Robert Siciliano that I also recommend :
